CRTC December Students of the Month

Student Name: Eli Parsons

Program: Graphic Arts

Grade: 12

School: Merrimack Valley

Why was this student nominated?

I have picked Eli Parson for December's "Student of the Month in Graphic Arts" at the CRTC because he consistently attacks every project with grit and determination. Hailing from Merrimack Valley, he is driven to know the process of all things design and to get better in every way. Eli understands the professional and academic outcomes expected and is resourceful by efficiently researching and choosing the harder, more complex designs to complete. He listens attentively and responds well to feedback from me and his peers; accepting it as professional criticism to improve. He effortlessly demonstrates a good sense of organization skills, ready to work at all times and uses class time with purpose and drive. Eli has stepped up to leadership qualities as the go to person in completing the silk screening project, which represents a true indication of his growth mindset in Graphic Arts. He has recently been awarded his professional Certification in Adobe Photoshop and is on track to be certified in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere.

Where is this student thinking of going to school?: Maine College of Art

Student Name: Larysa Marienko
Program: Teacher Preparation
Grade: 11
School: CHS

Why was this student nominated?

Larysa is the Teacher Preparation student of the month because of her strong soft skills. She is a highly determined and ambitious student. Larysa strives to do well in all aspects of the program. In order to do this, she seeks specific feedback from her teachers and uses it to revise both her written work and her student teaching. Larysa is willing to invest as much time as it takes to complete quality work that demonstrates a deeper understanding of the material. When the weather prevented her from teaching her lesson on her last scheduled teaching day, she took the initiative to come teach this lesson during another time. This allowed her to implement all of the suggestions from her peers and supervisors to improve her lesson. Larysa is determined to become the best teacher she can be and does whatever it takes to make that happen.

Student Name: Ryan Jaworski
Program: Culinary Arts
Grade: 11
School: Bow

Why was this student nominated?

Ryan is a student that always shows up prepared. His uniform is always clean, neat and complete. Assignments are always on time and completed with care, as well as neat and legible. In class, Ryan always clarifies directions and this is evident in the fact that his work shows a meticulous eye to detail. In addition, Ryan is always the first to lend a hand whenever necessary. This also happens without being asked, as he is very observant and aware of what is needed.

Student Name: John Yatco

Fun Fact: His Brother Mark is a CRTC IT Graduate

Student Name: Mitchell Mullen
Program: Automotive
Grade: 11th
School: CHS

Why was this student nominated?

Mitchell continually shows strong professionalism, integrity and grit. He is always one of the first to start working and knows what to do without asking. Mitchell is a positive member of the classroom by contributing to class discussions, supporting his peers, and being respectful to the staff. Mitchell has dropped by the auto shop during open blocks to see if there was “anything that needs to get done.”
